Who we are & what we do
History
The NSM is a non-profit organisation established in 2008 at a conference of shelters nationally. The Nisaa Institute for Women’s Development serves as its secretariat. Its membership currently consists of 78 shelters spread across all nine provinces of South Africa.
Vision
To be the united voice on sheltering for women and children affected by gender-based violence in South Africa.
Mission
To network, advocate and lobby provincial, national and international stakeholders, and engage in service provision, legislation and capacity building on GBV and sheltering of abused women and their children in South Africa.
